Confession time!!! If you asked me which classroom theme has a bit of a reputation for being, well... a lot... I’d have to say dinosaurs!

For some reason, there’s always been this unspoken rule that a dinosaur classroom theme has to be loud. Think bold primary colors, busy patterns, cartoon dinosaurs everywhere you look… the whole Jurassic explosion, competing for attention on every single wall.
And look, I get it. Kids have this innate, unfathomable obsession with dinosaurs! It’s one of those topics they just never seem to tire of. There’s always that one sweet student who walks in on day one knowing wayyy more about a T-Rex than any of us ever will!

But for the longest time, bringing that dinosaur excitement into the classroom seemed to mean sacrificing your own aesthetic for heavy colors, clashing patterns, and a whole lot of visual chaos.
So when I started working on Dino Dreamland, I wanted to create an elevated dinosaur theme. Spoiler: it turned out to be my most high-maintenance collection to date and took me the longest to make! But I promise all that extra love shows in every detail.
Keep reading for a little peek behind this collection, why dinosaurs are such a huge win for preschool and elementary classrooms, and exactly how to make this dreamy setup work in your own space.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, you can't fake the kind of excitement kids have for dinosaurs.
Say the word at circle time and watch what happens. Eyes go wide. Hands shoot up. Someone roars (there's always a roar!), and before you know it, everyone has a story, a fact, or a favorite dinosaur they absolutely need to tell you about.

Dinosaurs get kids talking. And that fascination tends to stick around! The preschooler who loves dinosaurs often becomes the second grader who's still completely fascinated by them, so it's a theme your students can really grow with.
And it goes far beyond the walls. Dinosaurs are an instant gateway to science, prehistoric life, and all those big questions kids love to ask. They give students a reason to explore, dig a little deeper (pun intended!), and get genuinely excited about learning.
A dinosaur theme works so well in preschool because little ones already know and love the characters. Pop a friendly dino next to each letter on your alphabet wall, add student names to a dinosaur door display and cubby labels, and use a visual timetable so they can follow the day before they can read. Those familiar faces give little ones something to hold onto while they’re still finding their feet in the classroom.
In the older grades, dinosaurs slot right into science units, measurement, research projects, and writing. Same theme, just a little more digging.
I’m not even exaggerating when I say seeing this entire collection finally come together feels like a straight-up “pinch me” moment!!! It captures everything I love about how classroom decor has evolved.
We are officially past the days of making trade-offs! Your space can feel playful and exciting for students while still reflecting the style you love. You can absolutely have both, and that feels like a pretty massive win!
Instead of bright primaries, I began playing around with soft, muted hues, warm neutrals, and hand-drawn dinosaur clipart (all illustrated in-house!) that still bring all the fun, just designed to feel cohesive, NOT overstimulating. Every piece sits nicely next to the others, giving your students a playful, polished feel while keeping the room gorgeous for you to spend your days in.
It's still very much a dinosaur classroom. The dinos are there for your students to point at, name, and giggle over. The room around them just feels a little calmer.
Now for the fun part! One of my favorite things about a dinosaur classroom theme is how many different directions you can take it. Maybe your Dino Dreamland moment is a giant dinosaur bulletin board that instantly hooks your students’ attention.

Maybe you’d rather focus the magic right at the entrance with a sleek classroom door display welcoming everyone by name. Or perhaps you prefer keeping the heavy hitters simple and letting little prehistoric details pop up throughout your learning walls, labels, reading organizers, or storage bins.
There really is no one-size-fits-all way to do it.
So, if you’re looking to steal a little inspiration for your own setup, let’s take a peek at how Dino Dreamland can come to life in your space!
Your students’ eyes land on the learning wall about a hundred times a day, so it needs to be easy to read! Dino Dreamland leans into warm neutrals and a colorful palette that lets every letter and number pop.

The dino alphabet posters come with multiple designs and illustration options, so you can tailor your A–Z to your phonics program. And yes, they come in Australian school fonts, including NSW, QLD, SA, and VIC, so you can choose the handwriting style that suits your classroom!
Over in your math zone, pair the number posters with the skip-counting numbers in 2s, 5s, and 10s, turning number practice into giant dinosaur steps that students can actually visualize.

Pair them with the number line and the color and shape posters to give your little explorers a built-in cheat sheet for counting on and counting back, all in the same warm neutral palette.

Then tie your morning zone together with the calendar. When students get the job of swapping out the day, month, and date, a basic schedule check becomes a routine they’ll beg to lead, and a calm, focused way to start each morning.
A dinosaur classroom door display is one of the simplest ways to set the theme from day one, and it turns your entrance into their new favorite stomping ground! Add each student’s name and a warm welcome message, and little learners feel at home before they’ve even stepped inside.

Inside your classroom, your bulletin boards are where you can really let those larger dino illustrations roam free! I am a huge fan of pairing a giant statement board right next to an affirmation station. You get this gorgeous visual focal point on one side and a dedicated spot to hand your kids a daily dose of towering confidence on the other.

Some of the hardest-working pieces in any classroom are the ones that keep your little herd moving in the right direction!
A visual timetable lets your kids map out the day’s expedition at a glance. It gives students a familiar reference for what's coming next and helps them follow the daily routine.

Throw your morning slides up on the screen, and they get a gentle landing pad the second they walk in, like a little trail of footprints for their morning routine. And when things get a little too “Jurassic,” the voice level chart saves your vocal cords. A simple point to the poster is all it takes for them to dial the volume back down.

This is the part that quietly ties everything together.

Carry the same colors and dino details onto your book tubs, supply trays, and cubbies with the editable classroom labels. The teacher toolbox labels, Sterilite drawer labels, and trolley labels sort all those tiny bits and bobs (paper clips, sticky notes, emergency chocolate…), so you can grab what you need in seconds. There’s something ridiculously satisfying about realizing even the glue-stick tub matches.

For your students, desk plates give everyone their own spot with their name front and center, and the reading group set makes literacy rotations smoother since every student knows exactly where their group meets. And don’t forget your own space! Matching binder covers keep your lesson plans organized and so much nicer to look at on the shelf.

If you've been dreaming about a dinosaur classroom theme but couldn't quite picture it fitting your style, I hope this gave you that little nudge! You really can have a room that lights your students up and still feels calm and beautiful to you.
Whether you go all in with a statement door and bulletin board or start small with labels and a few dino details, the Dino Dreamland Collection is designed to grow with your space and your students.
I can't wait to see your little herd settle into their new habitat. Now go dig in. Your classroom's next big discovery is waiting!
